Italy were unimpressive in beating Tonga by 5 points last week but they have done reasonably well at home in 2012 with a 13-6 win over Scotland and a 15-19 defeat to England in the Six Nations. They will most likely be eyeing this clash with a mixture of excitement and trepidation as it will give them a good indication as to whether they are making meaningful progress against the top teams.
The All Blacks easily swept Scotland aside last week to open their tour with a 29 point win which was enough to get the handicap of 26.5 points. They have not lost on a year end tour since 2002 and have now gone 18 matches without defeat.
